We have had to postpone the Steam Gala Weekend (10-12 July), which is going to be re-scheduled.
Unfortunately, our intended guest steam locomotive requires additional preparation work before it is ready to enter traffic.
To ensure the locomotive is presented at the standard we know our visitors expect and deserve, we have taken the decision to postpone the Steam Gala to a later date. We look forward to announcing new dates as soon as possible.
The good news is that the railway will still be alive with activity that weekend, as we are pleased to be offering a series of exclusive Driver Experience Days instead:
We have a Bronze Diesel Driving Experience on Friday 10 July and a Bronze Steam Driving Experience on Sunday 12 July. Click the links for more information and to buy tickets.
These experiences provide a unique opportunity to get behind the controls of our heritage locomotives, enjoying one-to-one time with our experienced crews and an unforgettable day on the railway.
Please note that there will be no public passenger train services operating on 10, 11 or 12 July. The railway will be open exclusively for pre-booked Driver Experience participants, and standard train rides will not be available during this period.
For those who were planning to visit the postponed Direct Rail Services (DRS) Open Day, anyone with a DRS ticket will be able to get half price travel at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway during our Summer Diesel Gala in August.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support. While we are naturally disappointed not to be able to hold the Steam Gala this July, we are excited to offer these unique footplate experiences and look forward to welcoming everyone back for both the rescheduled Steam Gala and our Summer Diesel Gala later this year.
