The Duffield Shopper Special offers a wonderfully nostalgic way to travel, with the journey made aboard one of our heritage Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs). Settle into your seat at Wirksworth and enjoy a leisurely ride along the Ecclesbourne Valley, taking in the views through the large windows as the train makes its way through the Derbyshire countryside to Duffield. Unlike simply driving into the village, the DMU makes the journey part of the experience. With their distinctive interiors, sounds and character, these classic trains recreate the atmosphere of everyday British railway travel from decades gone by. After arriving at Wirksworth, you’ll have time to explore the town and of course, the Farmers’ Market. Your ticket entitles you to any train back to Duffield.

Wirksworth Wizarding Day is a fantastic day out for the whole family, with the streets of Wirksworth filled with magical characters, entertainment, activities and attractions throughout the town. The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway provides the perfect way to travel to the event, bringing you directly into Wirksworth and avoiding the need to find parking in and around the busy town centre.
