Ecclesbourne Valley Railway’s 2026 Campaign – Securing Our Future
The Problem
Beneath the rails lies the unsung hero of your journey: the track bed. It takes the weight of our historic trains and ensures the safety and comfort of thousands of visitors every year. But, even the sturdiest of oak sleepers eventually wear out and ballast shifts and settles.
To ensure that our services runs smoothly, safely and comfortably throughout 2026, we need to renew 400 sleepers and replenish tons of ballast to secure the very foundations on which we operate.
So, we’re inviting you to take ownership of a piece of the line and have broken down the task into bite-sized contribution.
By funding just one single sleeper or a ton of ballast, you are literally laying the groundwork for the future of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.

• £25 buys one ton of ballast, essential for the stability of the track
• £35 buys a brand new sleeper, securing the rails for years to come
• £60 buys a sleeper and one ton of ballast
