Restoration of Class 119 Driving Motor Brake Composite W51073

Receiving a wash Just Getting Started

With so much to do a decision had to be made as to what to do first. The team gathered together to give the unit a quick look over. As it was winter, it was agreed that the first efforts would be spent internally until the weather warmed up and then work could start on connecting together all of the components underneath.

One of the first tasks was to give the unit a thorough wash over as the paintwork that had been done in 2005 was becoming quite dirty. With the aid of a pressure washer, this was quite a simple task.

It was then a case of clearing the unit out so that there was a bit of space to work in.

And here you can see a small YouTube video of the team preparing the metal inside the First Class Smoking compartment in the depths of winter.
