Timetable of Events 2008

2008 sees a few twists in the story of the railway - we have already seen the public opening of the line between Wirksworth and Idridgehay, and there will also be the new celebration of Wapentake within the town.

The prices for event days are as follows unless specifically stated in the event details:

NB. - Family ticket can consist of two adults and up to 3 children on event days.

Sat 24th, Sun 25th & Mon 26th May	Wirksworth Carnival Open Days
At Wirksworth Station. Both Ravenstor and Idridgehay lines will be in operation and there will be a range of activities in conjunction with the Wirksworth Carnival and Well Dressings. Admission including all train rides. Open 10:00am 'till 5:00pm each day.

Sat 21st & Sun 22nd June	Teddy Bear Days
At Wirksworth Station. Children free if they bring a teddy bear! Both the Ravenstor and Idridgehay lines will be in operation and there will be a teddy bear hunt and competition for the kids. Open 10:00am 'till 5:00pm each day.

Sat 26th & Sun 27th July	Wirksworth Wapentake NEW!
At Wirksworth Station. Both the Ravenstor and Idridgehay lines will be in operation and there will be a range of activities in conjunction with the Wirksworth Wapentake. A great weekend of historical re-enactment. Admission including all train rides. Open 10:00am 'till 5:00pm each day.

Sat 23rd, Sun 24th & Mon 25th August	Bank Holiday (Home Fleet) Operating Weekend
At Wirksworth Station. Both the Ravenstor and Idridgehay lines will operate over the weekend with a service of diesel railcars and both class 03 locomotives. We will also run goods demonstration trains and there will be brake van rides, a cavalcade of our industrial locomotives and other engines at 2:30pm each afternoon. Open 10:00am 'till 5:00pm each day.

Sat 13th, Sun 14th, Sat 20th & Sun 21st September	Wirksworth Festival Open Days
At Wirksworth Station. In conjunction with the popular Wirksworth Festival, the railway will be operating both Ravenstor and Idridgehay lines and visitors will be able to enjoy the various trails and events around the town and railway. Open 10:00am 'till 5:00pm each day.

Sat 18th, Sun 19th October	Wirksworth Model Railway Exhibition
At Wirksworth Town Hall and other venues around the town. The annual model railway exhibition will take place at the town hall, parish rooms and memorial hall. The "big trains" will be playing their part at the station . Open 10:00am 'till 5:00pm each day.

Sat 13th, Sun 14th, Sat 20th & Sun 21st December	Santa Trains
At Wirksworth Station. All persons £7.50. Join Santa and his Little Helpers for a festive time. Presents and drinks for the kids and mince pies and mulled wine for the adults. Advanced booking is essential, more details closer to the date. Tickets will be mailed out 1st November.
