Commercial WyvernRail plc, the company behind the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, promotes the line for commercial activities in addition to passenger services. Launched in 2003, MyTestTrack.com offers infrastructure services for the rail engineering industry, by providing facilities for vehicle testing in an environment away from the main line. The railway is presently the sole test site for the certification of possession-only vehicles to standard RIS-1530-PLT, while part of the route is in use by Tube Lines for the approval of engineers vehicles for London’s Underground by providing a test site for the transmission-based train control (TBTC) system method of cab signalling. The railway is also offered to film and television production companies as a location. Marketed as RailFilmLocations.biz, the line has been used by the BBC, ITV and several independent production companies. |
