Restoration of Class 119 Driving Motor Brake Composite W51073

Initial Compressions

Progress reported on 25/11/12.

As mentioned in the previous update's update, this week saw the first running of No.1 engine for the first time in 19 years. This is a great achievement for the team! Some more work was carried out on the engine including the fitting of the important fan belts and a tidy up of the fuel lines this weekend. All of this work will allow the drive train to be constructed shortly, but an alternator and exhauster need fitting in the mean time. An electrical quirk on the start circuit also requires further investigation which is obviously something residual from before the vehicle was withdrawn from BR service.

Upstairs, the other luggage rack was put up on No.2 side, declaring this difficult task complete. Some sanding work was undertaken on the window frames to prepare them for their stain and varnish treatment.
